Meet the author

My inspiration for "Ragllan and the Curse of the Black Dog" blossomed from the enchanting Sussex countryside. The magical essence of this land, particularly my parents' wood where I played as a child, ignited the initial spark. Like the winding paths of the forest, the story and plot evolved and grew alongside me. I was deeply inspired by literary giants such as The Lord of the Rings, the Narnia chronicles, and Andrew Lang's Fairy Tales, which offered fantastic stories from around the world, all translated into English.

I am drawn to telling stories set in the heart of nature—a sun-dappled wood, a shimmering lake—where magical creatures might lurk within every shadow. My time spent lost in the wild wood gave me the idea for the Wolflings, beings that are half-wolf, half-nature spirit, and of course, Ragllan himself. The dark spirit of the Black Dog, a vengeful forest demon with a score to settle, emerged from this interplay of light and darkness. I hope readers feel a sense of wonder and enchantment when they dive into my book, immersing themselves in a world where magic is just beyond the next tree.
